Scheduled to be held from February 19 to 23, 2023 at the Sofitel Hotel Ivoire in Abidjan, under the theme "Acting for sustainable resource management and access for all to water and sanitation in Africa", the 21st congress international and AfWA exhibition combined with the 7th FSMA conference, effectively started on February 19, 2023, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Patrick ACHI, who announced that more than 5 billion dollars will be invested in the water sector drinking water and sanitation by 2030. “We will continue our efforts, we will accelerate our actions. We will be there for 2030 and Water for All,” he said. He continued by calling on the assembly to work together for access to water for all. “Winning the battle for access to safe drinking water will require at least a 12-fold increase in the current rate of progress in drinking water and seasoning. This is why we have no choice, as a continent, as Africans, as a country, but to succeed. And the rest of the world with us. We have the means. We have water in Africa in the subsoil of our continent traversed by three (3) of the fifteen (15) largest rivers in the world, including the second largest, the Nile (Congo, Niger, etc.)'" he urged.
The Minister of Hydraulics, Sanitation and Health, Mr. Bouaké FOFANA, meanwhile declared that the theme of the Congress will allow our country to have another look at the management of drinking water sectors. and sanitation.
The day of February 19, 2023 was also marked by the official visit of the exhibition stands, including that of ONEP, where visitors will be informed throughout the period of the Congress of the missions and objectives of the creation of the structure.
In addition, ONEP is also present at the Félix Houphouët BOIGNY University Forum in Cocody where other exhibition stands are available from February 20 to 23, 2023, to discuss with students in the water and sanitation to help them choose their career.
